One of the most common pieces of advice when moving is to have an in home survey. So, how do you make the most your time once you have a moving company out to your residence? If the moving company is coming out to you it’s important to make the most of your time, and theirs by being prepared. Have your home organized, and show them your whole house; know what is going with you and what isn’t going. If you aren’t sure, be honest with the moving consultant. You can always update them after if there are changes. Having a list of questions ready for the moving company is helpful. The consultant will have questions for you, but it’s important for you to say what your expectations are regarding moving dates and if your new residence has certain requirements for moving. If you are getting more than one estimate, it’s key to give the same information to all involved so that you can make an informed decision knowing that the quotes are comparing the same services. Is it fair to share estimates with other movers? It’s a personal decision. It’s important to make sure you understand the moving estimates and the services that each company is providing. This can be confusing, sometimes sharing with the moving companies may help you decipher where the differences lay. A clear upfront estimate of services will reduce your stress. Do your homework, be upfront and be prepared. If you do all of these things you will get a great result. To hear more about what you should tell a moving company watch this video with Dan and Jim:
