Long distance moves require a great deal of detailed management and coordination between movers, utility companies, realtors, etc… It can be overwhelming but there are ways to keep things manageable. There are a few moving companies in Boston but no one who has been helping people relocate locally and over long distances for more than 100 years. We have an effective and realistic approach to planning long distance moves. Here’s a few tips and more in the video below: Decide on a moving date: As you coordinate efforts between leaving your former residence and heading to your new home find a date that would be ideal for you to depart. This is the first step in getting the ball rolling with the movers. A reputable moving company will work to schedule a date on or near the day you would like to have your belongings packed up and loaded onto a truck. Anticipate a delivery window: The size of the truck carrying your belongings and the new area you are relocating to determine the date and time everything will arrive. Expect your moving company to give you a 7-10 day window when belongings are expected to arrive at a new residence. An experienced moving company will work to meet the customer’s preferred date of arrival and will typically narrow in on a specific date and time as the delivery day gets closer. Keep the basics: Plan ahead with your personal belongings and expect to be without everything you packed on the truck for 7-10 days. Be certain to keep essential items, clothing and toiletries handy so you have them when you need them during this time frame. Planning to be without these items during this time will alleviate stress and frustration and help the process go smoother. Moving into a new home that is far away is an exciting adventure but can be stressful if you’re not prepared with the facts.  More about moving long distance can be found in the video.
