We are often asked by customers what their best options for storage are when moving. It’s not uncommon for a new home to not be ready, or for there to be a lag in housing. Customers want to know if moving companies offer temporary storage and what their options are. The three main options for storage are a moving company warehouse, self-storage or the use of an outside container. There are pros and cons to each of these options. The main thing to consider is what the customer expects. If you need to have 24/7 access to your belongings and want them on your property than an outside container would be good for you. If you want that access but don’t mind driving somewhere than self-storage is an option for you. The moving company should offer you full service if you store your belongings with them, meaning they will get to your container and find your belongings for you. Another thing to consider is cost. The budgets for all three storage options vary, depending on the time of year, how long you are storing, etc. Another type of storage to be aware of is emergency storage, many times when a home is damaged (fire, flood, etc.) the contents need to be removed and stored safely while the home is under repair. No matter what you choose, make sure you know what you are getting into. Be sure to visit the storage facility or warehouse, and know the sizes of outside containers before having one delivered. If you do this than the option you choose will meet your expectations. Watch this video to hear more about storage options:
