Whether a local move or a long distance relocation, understanding “moving jargon” or moving industry specific terms can be confusing and stressful. We asked the Humboldt Experts to break down some of the most commonly used terms so you can “relax and get moving”.

What are Shuttle Services?

Shuttle service is the use of a secondary, smaller truck or vehicle to shuttle goods to the assigned (typically larger / tractor trailer) truck when the larger truck cannot make a normal pickup or delivery because of the physical constraints (extremely narrow road, inadequate parking area, weak bridge, etc.) A shuttle is sometimes also called an “auxiliary service”. Charges for this service are typically based on the weight of the shipment and the area of the country where the service is performed.
