Humboldt lauded with 9th
consecutive South Shore Success Award
Recognized by South Shore Chamber of Commerce
for growth in revenues, operations and personnel
On the heels of expanding the warehousing
and office space at their new headquarters
and warehouse in Canton, MA, Humboldt Storage
and Moving has been awarded the South Shore
Success Award for the 9th consecutive year.
The award, sponsored by the South Shore
Chamber of Commerce, recognizes significant
growth in revenues, operations and personnel.
“Our company has been in the fortunate
position of having continued and substantial
growth year-by-year for most of the decade,”
said D’Arcy Goldman, president of
Humboldt Storage and Moving. “This
award offers much appreciated recognition
for our efforts by citing our expansion
and increasing revenues and drawing attention
to the tremendous opportunities available
for businesses here on the South Shore.”
Moving Into The Next Millennium
The South Shore Success award bestowed
upon Humboldt Storage and Moving recognized
the company’s continued growth over
the past eight years and, in particular,
during the past 36 months.
With a total workforce of approximately
110 people, Humboldt has increased its staff
by more than 25% percent during the past
three years.
Humboldt Storage and Moving, the Canton-based
United Van Lines Agent, has added a second
new wing onto their two-year-old Canton
Commerce Center campus. The latest additions
include another 32,000 square feet of warehouse
space and 2,500 square feet of office space.
The new first class office space will be
the new home of Humboldt’s fastest
growing service, the International Relocation
Division.
As recently as this June, Humboldt had
also added a 32,000 square feet of additional
warehouse space to its state-of-the-art
60,000 square foot headquarters in Canton,
MA which opened in April, 1999. Thus, the
total square footage of the building is
126,500 square feet. The building sits on
19 acres of land and features a heated warehouse,
40-foot ceilings, drive in docks, a full-scale
weight facility and advanced 24 hour service.
The new space includes two additional truck
well that will allow drivers to bring their
vans inside the warehouse at ground level.
Also added was an outdoor car ramp that
accommodates the loading of an automobile
directly into a moving van or onto a car
carrier.
“The additional space will provide
Humboldt with additional resources and capabilities,
which will in turn provide their customers
with increased quality and performance,”
noted D’Arcy Goldman, President of
Humboldt Storage and Moving.
Revenues have also been on the rise, as
exemplified by the phenomenal growth of
Humboldt’s international division.
In 1996, this division barely scratched
$250,000 in sales. Developed, by 1998, the
division saw record-setting revenues of
approximately $1.5 million. In 2000, Humboldt’s
international business is on pace to reach
the $3 million mark. Closer to home, Humboldt’s
domestic business has also substantially
increased during the past three years.
