MOVING WITH CHILDREN.
This
is one of those areas where we can really
help you avoid unnecessary stress, with
a little advice. We know that moving is
an anxious time for children, too, especially
the younger ones. A little special attention
can make the moving experience a little
easier for everyone, from toddlers to teenagers.
When final arrangements have been made,
take your children to see their new home,
if possible. Show them the school they’ll
attend, as well as some of the interesting
sights in their new hometown. Take time
to answer their questions.
Make moving a family experience by letting everyone participate, including
the smaller children. Let them select toys they want to take along in the car
and those to be packed. Or invite them to decide how the furniture should be arranged
in their new bedroom. They’ll be happy to participate. Above all, reassure
them at every opportunity that residential or international move will be an enjoyable
experience, with their help.
We’re happy to provide some fun activity
sheets that you can print out for your
children. Each one of these fun sheets relates
to the moving process, and will help to
show them just what happens on moving day.
And let’s face it: If the kids are
happy, it makes things a little easier for
you.
